Heart Disease Prevention: A Lifestyle Guide

Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of death, but it is largely preventable.

 Heart-Healthy Habits

– Eat a Balanced Diet: Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins (especially fatty fish), healthy fats. Limit salt, sugar, saturated/trans fats.

– Stay Active: 150 minutes moderate or 75 minutes vigorous exercise per week.

– Maintain a Healthy Weight.

– Don’t Smoke and avoid secondhand smoke.

– Manage Stress: Mindfulness, meditation, hobbies, social connections.

– Limit Alcohol: ≤1 drink/day women, ≤2 men.

– Monitor Blood Pressure and Cholesterol.

– Get 7–9 Hours of Sleep per night.

– Know Your Family History.

– Get Regular Check-ups.
